Yeah I was pleasantly surprised with the improvement. Seems to have grown in stature as well.

That's good to hear about Spiegel as I've never been totally convinced by him when I've watched him in the past.
Chris Woods must be doing a good job as Adrian and Randolph have both been impressive this season. It's a long time since our goalkeeping has had such strength in depth.

I'm a fan of Samuelsen but last night was disappointed to see him indulge in show boating on a couple of occasions when a simple ball to a team mate was the better choice. Same with Marcus Browne. Overall I wasn't greatly impressed and over the 2 legs Hull can feel a bit unlucky IMO. Oxford was the pick of the bunch for me and Spiegel played better than I've seen him play before. Good turnout by Hammers fans, well done Hull for a) making it free entry b) having an away end which helped the atmosphere.

Saw Steve Bruce there, by fuck he's put a bit of spare timber. Was a bit of a dour affair, impressed with Samuelson, it will be interesting to see if he makes it. Was a group of Hull fans about 10-12 years old giving it the big ones, quite amusing really.

Has he played at all in the last couple of months apart from the two legs of this?

That's worrying about Byram.

Re: Away leg at Hull Under 21 Cup Final 4th May
I Thought it was a poor game overall with the obvious stand outs being Oxford and Samulesen, although we did play some really decent stuff at times in the second half. We were often guilty of trying to do too much, especially in the final third, but obviously composure and better decisions making will come with experience.

A little bit of a concern for me was that I thought Byram looked quite poor defensively, he was beaten easily a couple of times and was lucky to escape a red when he pulled down an attack when he was last man. Maybe I was just expecting him to be head and shoulders above the rest and Iam being a bit harsh but I wasn't all that impressed.

Well done all round, going by the pictures there were at least 200 West Ham there.

Well done to the youngsters.

One or two will definitely make the step-up soon.

Cup win makes-up for a very disappointing league campaign for them were they made a terrible start to the season.

First U21 game for me. First half bit of a bore fest, picked up second half. Oxford, Samuelsen and CB no 5 (Henry?) were cut above the rest. No.10 missed a sitter start of first half. We seemed to play everything through the middle and could never quite finish a move off. Referee was a whistle happy twat. Probably a penalty for us at the end and at least 20 offside calls slowed the game down. But ultimately great to see us lift the cup, all singing bubbles at the end crossed hammers and big smiles. Well done West Ham and great support tonight having to put up with that little cunt with the horn for 45mins!
